  • In order to secure your place a deposit of 50% of the course fee is required.
  • The payment of the remaining balance is required on the first day of the course.
  • If, for any reason, the course is cancelled your deposit will be refunded.
  • If, for any reason, you are unable to attend the course and have paid your deposit we must be notified at least 48hrs prior to the course date and your deposit will then be refunded. If this criterion is not met then your deposit will not be refunded.

Advanced Hoof Care Course

(Please note: Attendance on the Beginner’s course is not a prerequisite for attending the Advanced!)

  • Foot Anatomy and function
  • Recognition and treatment of claw diseases
  • Lameness prevention
  • Relationship between Nutrition and Lameness


  • Preventative hoof trimming (shaping the claw correctly)
  • Lameness treatment
  • Knife Sharpening
  • Hoof Trimming tools and accessories
  • Application of claw blocks
  • Use of angle grinder for hoof trimming

Length of Course

5 full days of Theory and Practical training PLUS 
3 Hoof Trimming Refresher sessions with Fred throughout the year (days to be scheduled)

Morning/afternoon Tea and Lunch provided

Certificate awarded on completion
